Job Description & Requirements
Join a dynamic team at the Long Sault Parkway focused on providing exceptional customer service at three campgrounds and two beach day-use picnic areas along the St Lawrence River. Here is your chance to spend the summer working outside in an unparalleled, scenic environment.
MOWER OPERATOR (student)
HOURS OF WORK:
variable hours to a maximum of 36.25 hours per week
Long Sault Parkway
$11.40 or $12.25 per hour
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:
mid-May to September 4, 2017 OR mid-June to September 4, 2017
As part of a work group, will carry out landscaping/lawn care duties to support customer service initiatives at campgrounds; duties include lawn tractor operation for park maintenance and grass mowing; cutting and trimming grass; grounds keeping (picking up garbage, stones and large branches), weeding of flowerbeds (where applicable); moving picnic tables, garbage cans and other obstacles in order to allow the passing of lawn equipment, providing assistance at special events in the parks; cleaning/maintenance of equipment and completion of equipment log books; documentation of accidents and/or injuries in the workplace; wearing a park uniform and proper personal protection at all times while on duty and ensuring that it is clean and in good repair.
Ability and experience to operate equipment, riding lawn mowers and string trimmers; physical ability to carry out a variety of park manual duties such as grounds keeping (picking up garbage, stones and large branches), moving picnic tables, lifting garbage cans, etc.; good communication and customer service skills to deal effectively with staff and the public; ability and willingness to acquire a good knowledge of the operation of a campground in a short period of time; ability to learn the contents of the Parks and Recreation Policy and Procedures Manual and the Emergency Procedures Manual; ability to learn about Eastern Ontario tourist attractions; valid driver’s licence may be required.
