POSITION: RETAIL SALES AND SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (student)

HOURS OF WORK:  variable hours to a maximum of 36.25 hours per week (weekends, evenings and holidays as required)

DIVISION / LOCATION:
Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada
Kingston, Ontario

SALARY: $11.40 per hour

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: Main Season: May to September 3, 2017 (additional opportunities for fall and winter events)

DUTIES:
To serve as an active member of Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada’s Sales and Visitor Services Team. To provide first point of welcome to visitors by greeting, responding to inquiries and providing Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada programming and site information in both official languages. To provide travel and tourist information to the public on Fort Henry National Historic Site and The St. Lawrence Parks Commission’s other attractions, Greater Kingston and Eastern Ontario. To contribute to the generation of revenues by collecting admission fees and upselling specialized products, programs and events offered at Fort Henry National Historic Site. To make each visitor’s experience at Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada interesting and enjoyable by providing excellent customer service. Join Fort Henry’s Retail and Admissions team and develop your skills by working in our interactive Interpretive Centre. Further enhance your computer science abilities by assisting in trouble shooting computerized P.O.S. systems and other related equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Good communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective product information and excellent customer service; ability to sell and upsell admissions, programs and services; ability to quickly assimilate and impact specialized program, admission, merchandise and regional tourist information; ability to operate a cash register and credit card machine, handle cash and invoice transactions with accuracy, integrity and efficiency; ability to work effectively and with large volumes of customers during peak periods; ability to work effectively in a team environment and possess ability to assume responsibility and exercise initiative while working alone and/or in a team environment; ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required; possess personal commitment to Customer Service, Health and Safety, Employment Equity, Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention and Revenue Generation and Cost Reduction; awareness of tourism and its economic impact.
