POSITION:  HORTICULTURAL INTERPRETER (student)

HOURS OF WORK: 36.25 hours per week

LOCATION:
Upper Canada Village
(11 km east of Morrisburg)

SALARY: $12.25 per hour

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: early-May to September 4, 2017

DUTIES:
To provide historical interpretation of the gardens and assist with the horticultural and landscaping tasks within Upper Canada Village; to support Upper Canada Village programming and customer service initiatives; to ensure the safety of visitors and staff and to protect the site’s resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong communication and customer service skills, ability to perform the physical duties associated with the position; knowledge and experience with traditional gardening and/or landscaping practices; ability to operate machinery (e.g. power mower, grass trimmer) and use an assortment of hand tools (shovel, rake, scythe) competently and safely; ability to study and learn historical information related to the position; ability to wear an historical costume and safety equipment; ability to work as an effective team member.
