POSITION: HISTORICAL INTERPRETER – BATTLE MEMORIAL BUILDING (student)

HOURS OF WORK: 36.25 hours per week

LOCATION:
Upper Canada Village
(11 km east of Morrisburg)

SALARY: $12.25 per hour

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: early-May to September 4, 2017

DUTIES:
To interpret aspects of the early Canadian military history and specifically the War of 1812 and the Battle of Crysler’s Farm; to assist with school and youth group programs visiting the National Historic Site, Battle Memorial Building and/or Upper Canada Village Discovery Centre; to support Upper Canada Village programming and customer service initiatives; to ensure the safety of visitors and staff and to protect the site’s resources. Note: This position may be combined and include the duties of the Miniature Train Attendant position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to greet and communicate effectively to large numbers of people of various ages and backgrounds; knowledge and interest in early Canadian military history, historical re-enactments and events; ability to study and learn the interpretive and historical material related to this position and the Village; ability to perform physical duties and demonstrations associated with this position; ability to wear historical costume and corporate uniform; ability to perform and learn the skills associated with this position (e.g. military drill demonstrations, teaching, role playing); ability to work independently.
