POSITION:  FAMILY ACTIVITY CENTRE FACILITATOR (student)

HOURS OF WORK: 36.25 hours per week

LOCATION: 
Upper Canada Village
(11 km east of Morrisburg)

SALARY: $12.25 per hour

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: late June to September 4, 2017

DUTIES:
To welcome visitors and facilitate their experience at the Family Activity Centre at Upper Canada Village by orienting them to the Centre, explaining and animating the exhibits within the Centre and providing a variety of historical workshops and demonstrations using crafts, music, drama, games, tools and historical costumes. To assist with Time Traveller Camp Counsellor duties as required (see SLPC-UCV-16/2016(6)).

QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate well with visitors and, in particular, children; ability to work effectively as a member of a team; demonstrated ability to lead workshops and to explain and demonstrate a wide range of historical activities such as crafts, music, games and tools; knowledge of 19th century Ontario history; ability to learn historical information, policies and procedures associated with the Family Activity Centre and Upper Canada Village; ability to assist with other tasks associated with the Activity Centre such as obtaining supplies, cleaning and research related to visitor questions and new activity centres; ability to wear a modern uniform; valid emergency first aid certificate or the ability to obtain. A vulnerable service sector check is required for this position.
