MUSICIAN / PERFORMER (student)
HOURS OF WORK:
36.25 hours per week
Upper Canada Village
(11 km east of Morrisburg)
$12.25 per hour
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:
early-May to September 4, 2017
To interpret various aspects of the history of 1860s Ontario through music and drama-related activities and special events; to lead children’s activity sessions as part of the on-site youth programs; to support Upper Canada Village programming and customer service initiatives; to ensure the safety of visitors and staff and to protect the site’s resources.
Proven ability to play the piano, brass, wind or string instrument; ability to read and transpose music; ability to sing harmony line; background in performing arts – music and drama; ability to communicate and to interpret effectively to large numbers of people of various ages and backgrounds; ability to communicate well with children; ability to study and learn the interpretive and historical material related to the position and the Village; ability to perform physical duties in order to carry out the various interpretive activities on site associated with the position(s) assigned; ability to wear historical costume. A vulnerable service sector check is required for this position.
