POSITION: MINIATURE TRAIN ATTENDANT (student)

HOURS OF WORK: 36.25 hours per week

LOCATION:
Upper Canada Village
(11 km east of Morrisburg)

SALARY: $12.25 per hour

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: early-May to September 4, 2017

DUTIES:
To greet and welcome customers and to help operate the Upper Canada Village miniature train by assisting customers, driving the train; operating the audio-visual exhibit and audio tour; helping to maintain the train, track, station and surrounding area; selling tickets and operating a cash register. Note: This position may be combined and include the duties of the Historical Interpreter – Battle Memorial Building position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong communication and customer service skills, ability to acquire a good knowledge of the train’s operation and to perform the physical tasks that are part of this position (i.e. driving the train properly and safely, operating the audio-visual equipment, assisting with maintenance and minor repairs); ability to operate a cash register; ability to work under pressure in a busy area; ability to learn and share a wide variety of historical and tourist information with customers and to exercise good judgement in responding to inquiries from the public; ability to problem-solve and find solutions; ability to work in a team, ability to wear historical costume and/or corporate uniform.
