RETAIL SUPPORT WORKER / PARK WORKER (student)
HOURS OF WORK:
variable hours to a maximum of 36.25 hours per week
Administration Building, Upper Canada Village and McLaren Campground, Long Sault Parkway
$12.25 per hour
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:
April 24 to August 25, 2017
To support retail inventory management by ordering appropriate quantities prior to deadlines, ensuring delivery is efficient and timely, inputting product information into point-of-sale system for immediate sale, working with store staff for clean and effective displays, and ensuring approved prices are clear and consistent. Assist in identifying retail product to be sold at best profit margin by recognizing individual park demographics, listening to feedback from parks staff and analyzing historical sales data. Provide support at each parks location on the best practices to promote sales of retail product. Recognize opportunities for product movement amongst parks for best overall inventory management. Identify potential packaging and promotions to optimize sales. Research potential prospects of new product, keeping in mind demand, profit margin, delivery, and promotion. Work the duties, when required, of a park worker and/or other administrative duties as assigned.
Ability to listen to feedback and concisely verbalize and write recommendations to staff at park level and administration. Must be able to make on-the-spot buying decisions based on knowledge of options, value and current and future demand. Must be able to problem-solve conflicting agendas, supply shortages, pricing changes and vendor issues. Must be able to balance many orders and delivery deadlines, as well as travel (corporate vehicle provided) to a variety of campground locations from Glengarry Campground to Ivy Lea Campground.
