HISTORICAL INTERPRETER – BATTLE MEMORIAL BUILDING (student)
HOURS OF WORK:
36.25 hours per week
Upper Canada Village
(11 km east of Morrisburg)
$12.25 per hour
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:
early-May to September 4, 2017
To interpret aspects of the early Canadian military history and specifically the War of 1812 and the Battle of Crysler’s Farm; to assist with school and youth group programs visiting the National Historic Site, Battle Memorial Building and/or Upper Canada Village Discovery Centre; to support Upper Canada Village programming and customer service initiatives; to ensure the safety of visitors and staff and to protect the site’s resources.
Note: This position may be combined and include the duties of the Miniature Train Attendant position.
Ability to greet and communicate effectively to large numbers of people of various ages and backgrounds; knowledge and interest in early Canadian military history, historical re-enactments and events; ability to study and learn the interpretive and historical material related to this position and the Village; ability to perform physical duties and demonstrations associated with this position; ability to wear historical costume and corporate uniform; ability to perform and learn the skills associated with this position (e.g. military drill demonstrations, teaching, role playing); ability to work independently.
